Group Counseling
I run therapy groups periodically throughout the year on themes around grief, sudden loss, illness and support for therapists and healthcare workers.
Groups
I have run these support groups periodically throughout the year. Recruitment is ongoing; once. I have enough participants, I begin the group.
A free, brief intake session is required to assess fit for the group. To express interest or ask questions, please get in touch using the form below.

Death without forewarning can devastate your world, disturb your sense of safety, & intensify the normal grief process.
This weekly virtual group will facilitate connection, healing & support for those who have recently experienced a sudden or unexpected death.
This includes a loss of anyone significant or close to you (spouse/partner, sibling, friend, adult child) due to accident, suicide, homicide, sudden medical event, or overdose that occurred within the last 2-18 months.

Cancer treatment is difficult as it is, but for many in the LGBTQIA community, there can also be a sense of isolation due to discrimination in the healthcare system, feeling like the only one in your circles going through serious illness or confronting mortality, and worry that your medical team or your support system may not understand how your illness or treatment is impacting your relationship to you body, your gender, or your loved ones.
This group is a space to connect and bond, feel understood, and process what may feel too hard to discuss in other settings.

Grieving while working as a mental health provider can feel impossible. The skills we rely on—compartmentalization, managing countertransference, using metacognition—can become especially challenging in the midst of personal loss. Though we are meant to grieve in community, finding that space as a clinician can be difficult.
This group will offer a place to grieve openly, process your loss, and connect with others who understand the unique emotional toll of our work.

I am not in network with any insurance companies. Some insurance plans offer partial reimbursement for therapy. To find out your benefits, you can call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask questions such as:
Does my plan include mental health benefits for out of network providers? If so, does it cover group therapy?
Do I have a deductible for out of network care, and how much, if any, has been met?
How long does reimbursement take after I submit a superbill?
I can provide superbills for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Yes. I have limited sliding scale spots available for those in need. If therapy costs are prohibitive, we can discuss sliding scale options during our consultation call. If I do not have sliding scale availability at the time you reach out, I do keep a waitlist for when there are openings in my practice.

Free, brief, and introductory. You and I will have a conversation where you share with me what brings you to therapy and what you are looking for, I’ll tell you about my practice, and I can answer any questions you have. Together we decide if it feels like a good fit.

Groups are offered virtually and in person in the Portland, Oregon area. When you reach out let me know which you are interested in and I can tell you what is running currently.

Yes. I am legally and ethically bound to maintain confidentiality. There are a few exceptions: if I have reason to believe a client might hurt themself or someone else, then as a mandated reporter I have to tell the appropriate people to ensure safety.
