What to Write After Another School Shooting— Kate Baer

I start with my daughter's teacher. I write oh my god.and don't get any further. I imagine her body over
my daughter while her son sleeps at home in his crib.

So I write thank you and delete it. I write I've been
thinking of you
and delete it. Right now she's reviewing
division with the children. I am so sorry, I write
in the subject line. Somewhere outside the classroom,
not far if you really think about it, a child is being
buried. Delete, delete, delete.
